WINDSORS

We cannot help but be attentive to the texture and details told in the biographies of the accomplished who made their marks in preceding generations. What did their offices look like? Did they write entries in leather backed journals with gold nibbed fountain pens? Did they wear dress shirts with rounded collars? And, what glasses did they choose to define their stature? The famous Windsors frames shown here, for both gentlemen and ladies, are so authentic, your grandfather might do a double take when he sees you wearing them. If you want to create a lasting impression, consider our metal rim Windsors in a subtle gold matte-color, or if you prefer a silver effect, scroll down (or click here) to observe the Windsors in their original, classic pewter color. Both finishes are heavily laquered to make them allergy-safe. Our Windsors are in the original, flat oval eye-shape, with fabulous, wrap-around, quality wire-metal cable temples. These frames are truly accurate replicas of the Windsors spectacles that have been popular in America and Europe from before the 1800's to the present.

The Windsor Gold particulars are as follows: overall front width is 100mm; each lens has an eye width of 38mm and an eye height of 24mm; the nose bridge is a fixed, 20mm

Based on the paintings hanging in the National Museum, and the actual spectacles displayed in the Smithsonian, we know that cowboys in white hats wore oval shaped Windsors. So did Dolly Madison as well as Presidents Andy Jackson and Abe Lincoln. Our oval shaped Windsor Pewters come in two sizes: a very small, but historically correct 38 mm (eye-size); and we offer also a more modern, and still quite small 42mm (eye-size). Wearing oval shaped Windsors says you are about as cool as anyone on the planet-or depending on your chosen persona, it will say you find strength in keeping alive our Nation's most enduring style of spectacles. Our antique replicas are quite accurate in reproducing the famous Windsors. They even have the malleable, coiled-metal, wrap-around temple-cables that circle your ears. (In the olden times, a horse's gait could cause less secure glasses to fall off the rider's face.) By definition, Windsor spectacles have no nose pads, and use instead a smooth, fixed bridge. They are available in the classic pewter color, or in a gold matte finish.

Our Windsors not only are outstanding as glasses, but they are stunning when we make sun glasses using the Windsor frames. Of course, Windsor sunglasses will be made in the lens color of your choice with either a plain (non-prescription) UV tinted lens; as prescription sunglasses; or with a reading glass bifocal or full lens.

Similar to Windsor Gold frames (above) however these Windsors are offered in the more traditional pewter color and a choice of two sizes. Everything about our time honored Windsors is intriguing. True to the originals worn by Andrew Jackson in his official Presidential oil Portrait, they have wrap-around temple-cables that end with a malleable, wire spring. Like all of the authentic WINDSOR spectacles, there are no nose pads to clutter their design. Other historical figures, such as Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Susan B. Anthony, John Lennon and Harry Truman can all be seen in photographs or oil portraits, proudly wearing their Windsors.

The Windsor Pewter particulars are as follows: overall front width is 100mm; each lens has an eye width (depending on your choice) of either 38mm or 42mm and an eye height of either 24mm or 34mm; the nose bridge is a fixed, 20mm.
