LAUREATES Model #5-1 - $110 
In ancient Greece, a wreath of laurels were conferred as an accolade for achievements in the arts and sciences. So we named our Laureates in honor of those who strive for the best they can be in their creative endeavors. This style evolved from the rather sparse, all black style popular with the "Beat" Generation of the 1950šs and early 60šs. Out of vogue for 20 years, they re-appeared in the early 90šs on the faces of young songwriters and actresses who strove for creative respect. When we took note of them, our designers lovingly developed them into the sleeker, lighter style that you see above. Our version still keeps the rectangular rims, but softens them with a graceful arc above and below your eye. The translucent, smoke gray Zyl resin frames become illuminated when they catch the sunlight. This same property allows the silvery Laureates to pick up your skin tones as well. The temples are re-enforced with rods that flatten near the hinge, resulting in an unusual sparkle effect as light passes through the Zyl, and bounces back out from the textured metal encased within. Many female executives, scholars and writers have chosen such frames as outward symbols of their intelligence and integrity. In order to project a professional look, they were willing to put up with the unflattering, somewhat blocky, masculine look of older versions. Our aim with Laureates is to allow women to make such a positive statement about themselves without sacrificing a bit of their femininity. Laureates give you the same focused, thoughtful and capable look, but with sensuous, streamlined curves that won't let others forget you are still a woman.
