We were aware of their place in history when we designed the shape of these gems and gave them a small, 42 mm eye size. The extenders at the joinder of the temple and lens allows these frames to fit comfortably on normal sized and small faces.
Our frame researchers discovered from poring over old tomes that these were the favorites of the House of Lords in the times when members of Parliament lived on baronial estates. Their interesting, oblong shape was originally conceived to suit the contours of the faces of British nobility, who affected an austere and uncluttered appearance. Their traditional "T" fitted hardware to hold the lenses, and rigid design makes all of our Tuxedo Rimless styles about as sturdy as rimless frames can be made. The temples and bridge are non-allergenic due to substantial coats of lacquer over antiqued gold Monel metal.
